Prof Eleftherios Iakovou

 

Dr. Eleftherios Iakovou is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Prof. Iakovou is the Director of the Division of Industrial Management and the Director of the Laboratory of Statistics and Quantitative Analysis Methods, (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) of AUTH (im.meng.auth.gr/lascm).

Dr. Iakovou received his five-year degree Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1987, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, in 1990 and 1992, respectively. He served as an Assistant and then as a tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial engineering of the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida (1992 till 2002). His teaching, research and consulting interests include supply chain management, logistics, inventory management, applied operations research, production systems, revenue management, operations management, innovation and strategy development.

Prof. Iakovou has consulted extensively for a number of governmental and corporate organizations both in the U.S.A. and the EU, and has been conducting executive educational and training programs (including MBA programs) for Fortune 500 companies for more than 15 years, while has been invited as a keynote speaker to a plethora of international conferences and workshops. Prof. Iakovou sits at the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Emergency Management. He is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Institute for Industrial Engineers (IIE), the Hellenic Operational Research Society (EEEE). He is also the President of the Greek Association of Supply Chain Management (GASCM/EEL NG) since 2006 (www.gascm.org). Finally, he has served as a member of the Advisory Committee of EUREKA, the pan-European network for market-oriented, industrial R&D.
