Professor Costas Grammenos has has received one of the UK's highest awards in recognition of his contribution to teaching and research.

Professor Costas Grammenos, Chairman of the International Hellenic University's Governing Board, as well as Deputy Dean of Cass Business School and Pro Vice-Chancellor of City University, London, has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to teaching and research in the Queen's New Years Honours List.

Awards such as this are very occasionally granted to people from other countries that have made a significant contribution to relations between the United Kingdom and their own country. Professor Grammenos, a Greek national, was awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his services to the shipping industry in 1994.

The announcement of the award was received with approbation by staff and colleagues at the International Hellenic University, who have had the satisfaction of working with a chairman of such dedication and principle.
