Dr Apostolos Gkoutzinis
Apostolos Gkoutzinis is an international lawyer (admitted to practice law in New York, England and Wales and Greece) and partner of the international capital markets and corporate group of the leading international firm Shearman & Sterling. He is resident in the London office of Shearman & Sterling from where he advises major investment banks and commercial banks, private equity houses, leading corporations and sovereign entities in a wide range of corporate and financial matters, including initial public offerings and rights issues, stock exchange listings in the United States and Europe, high-yield and investment grade debt securities offerings, leveraged finance transactions, privatizations, M&A transactions, tender offers and other liability management and restructuring transactions and general corporate matters.
Professor Gkoutzinis has a diverse international practice in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. He holds two master’s degrees in law (LL.M), one from Harvard University (2005) and the second from the University of London (2000), a doctorate degree (Ph.D) from the University of London (2004) and a law degree from the University of Thessaloniki (1997). He has published a book on international banking law and regulation with Cambridge University Press (2006) and numerous articles and chapters in leading international periodicals, books and treatises. He is a regular speaker at conferences in the United States and Europe and a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of the University of London, one of the leading research centres for legal studies in Europe.
