Dr Heleni Loutrari received her bachelor degree (1987) from Biology Department of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She performed her thesis in Biochemistry Department of Hellenic Pasteur Institute and in Cellular and Molecular Physiology Department of Yale School of Medicine (USA). She received her PhD diploma from Biology Department of NKUA (1993) and since then she had continuously worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Biotechnology and Biochemistry Departments of Hellenic Pasteur Institute and in Biotechnology Laboratory, School of Chemical Engineering, National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA). From 2004-to present Dr Loutrari has been working as a principal research investigator and member of Laboratory Teaching Stuff (2014) in the First Department of Intensive Care Medicine, Evangelismos Hospital, NKUA School of Medicine, on topics related to several aspects of red Biotechnology. She has been involved as a senior co-investigator in 8 National and International research programs and she is the author of 27 peer-reviewed articles and 40 presentations in international conferences. Concerning teaching experience, Dr Loutrari participated in laboratory exercises of “Applied Biotechnology” course in NTUA School of Chemical Engineering and is contributing in the course “Biology of Cancer” of NKUA Medical School. She is also teaching in 3 master programs of NKUA Medical School ("Intensive Care Units and Emergency Nursing", "Sleep Disorders-Laboratory and Clinical Medicine of Sleep" and “Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation of Patients in ICU”). She has been responsible for laboratory training and supervision of numerous senior undergraduate students’ dissertations, 16 master diploma dissertations and six doctoral theses.
